Project “Researchers’ Night” – Arad 2024

On the evening of September 27, 2024, the Garden of Science Association participated in the 2024 Researchers’ Night, an event organized by the “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, dedicated to promoting science and education through interactive activities.

Our participation was made possible through a partnership with the Livada Middle School, which provided children from the Livada commune the opportunity to take part in a large-scale educational event held in a dynamic and friendly setting.

We would like to thank Biology teacher Irina Emilia Ana for her dedication and for the support provided to the children throughout the entire event.

An interactive stand, designed for children

The Garden of Science Association prepared an interactive stand, designed to be attractive both for the children from Livada and for the other event participants.

We presented various unique experiments from diverse fields of science, alongside special exhibits meant to spark the interest and curiosity of visitors.

The children wore t-shirts with the Association’s logo and badges with the Livada Middle School logo, thereby conveying our common message: the desire to support quality educational activities within the local community.

The public’s reactions were extremely positive, and the children were true ambassadors of science: they presented the experiments, interacted with visitors, learned new things, and told us that the experience was “amazing”.

Educational brochures – a unique element created by our team

A novel element of our participation in the 2024 Researchers’ Night was the debut of a series of educational brochures designed entirely by the Garden of Science Association team.

We started from the conviction that science is learned through experimentation but is reinforced through clear and accessible explanations. Therefore, each experiment presented was accompanied by an explanatory brochure, which allowed children and visitors to:

  • Better understand the observed phenomena;
  • Revisit the information even after the event;
  • Continue science discussions at home or at school.

The brochures were designed as attractive educational materials, tailored for children, which complement practical activity and transform the experience into a complete learning process.

Educational brochures were created for the following experiments:

  • Social behavior of ants and tunnel structure (ant farm).
  • Magnetic force and rotational motion (magnetic stirrer);
  • Pressure and liquid equilibrium (communicating vessels);
  • Light dispersion and composition (Newton’s color disc);
  • Transformation of mechanical energy into electrical energy (dynamo – manual mini-generator);
  • Transformation of electrical energy into motion (kinetic energy);
  • Observing details of small objects (microscope);
  • Magnetism and the Earth’s magnetic field (globe with magnetic poles);

Continuing educational activities in the community

We aim to continue organizing such activities at the local community level, to offer as many children as possible the chance to discover science through experimentation, explanation, and active involvement.

Special thanks

We thank the Researchers’ Night organizers for the invitation and for the opportunity to participate in this event dedicated to education and research.

We also thank all the participants for their interest and appreciation, as well as the ARQ editorial team for the photographs.
