An interesting new project: “The Solis Workshops,” supported by the Științescu Fund

Our project, “The Solis Workshops,” is among the 17 winning projects of the 2026 edition launched by Științescu Timișoara.

Through this project, the Garden of Science Association aims to develop a STEAM education program dedicated to children from rural areas, based on hands-on learning, exploration, and creativity.

What do we aim to do?

“The Solis Workshops – Sparking Curiosity” brings science closer to children through a series of outdoor workshops held in the Livada community (Arad). Over the course of six months, approximately 100 children will take part in hands-on activities where they will experiment, build, and discover scientific concepts in an accessible and engaging way.

The activities will include:

  • simple scientific experiments
  • building and prototyping
  • nature exploration
  • creative activities at the intersection of science and art

Children become creators

A key element of the project is the active involvement of children. They will not be just participants, but creators of educational installations, built by themselves, which will remain as permanent resources in the Garden of Science space.

Through this process, children will develop:

  • curiosity
  • critical thinking
  • confidence in their own ideas
  • collaboration skills

Why is this project important?

In many rural communities, access to practical science education is limited. “The Solis Workshops” responds to this need by offering children the opportunity to learn through direct experience and to discover science in a way that is relevant to their lives.

We aim to contribute to the development of curious young people who are able to ask questions, seek answers, and understand the world around them through science.
