Educational Resources – Garden of Science 2025

As part of The Truth Compass project, The Garden of Science Association has developed a series of original educational materials designed to support children in forming critical thinking, information analysis skills, and the ability to differentiate between facts and opinions. The materials created are the result of activities carried out within the project and can be used in both formal and non-formal educational contexts..

📘 Educational Brochures – “Truth Test” Exercises

We have created educational brochures for children, structured as interactive information analysis exercises. Each brochure starts from well-known or viral situations and stories and invites children to identify the correct information.

What the brochures contain:

  • short texts, adapted to the children’s age
  • multiple-choice answers
  • a single piece of correct information
  • explanations that encourage reasoning, not memorization

Examples of topics covered:

  • “The Flat Earth” – how we verify false claims
  • “The Left-Handed Puppy” – myths and reality
  • “Hello Kitty” – the difference between real information and rumors

🎯 Edicational goal
Developing critical thinking, the habit of fact-checking, and the ability to ask questions before accepting information.

🏅 Motivational Badges – messages for critical thinking

To support the project’s educational messages, we have created a series of motivational badges designed to reinforce and recognize critical thinking behaviors.

Key messages on the badges:

  • Fact-check mode: ON
  • Nu crede tot ce vezi (Don’t believe everything you see)
  • Fii smart, nu păcălit (Be smart, don’t be fooled)
  • No fake zone
  • Veritas, non viralis
  • Verba volant, data manent
  • Non omnia vera sunt

🎯 Educational role:
The badges function as:

  • motivational tools
  • symbolic rewards
  • visual reminders for responsible information consumption behaviors

Within the STEM Summer School project in August 2025, The Garden of Science Association developed:

📗 STEAM Activity Book for children (ages 5–8)

The STEAM activity book is designed as a complementary educational tool for the workshops held within the STEAM Summer School.

The book offers simple, visual, and interactive activities tailored to children’s developmental levels, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and logical thinking.

Types of activities included:

  • drawing and completion exercises
  • observation and attention activities
  • counting and classification tasks
  • exercises that stimulate imagination and free expression
  • educational messages about science, nature, and discovery

Through these activities, children are encouraged to discover that:

🎯 Educational role:

  • introducing children to STEM thinking in a playful way
  • developing focus, creativity, and confidence in their own ideas
  • associating learning with play and experimentation

The book can be used:

  • at home, with the support of parents
  • in summer schools
  • in non-formal educational activities
