Garden of Science

Vision

We believe in a constantly changing world, where education prepares children and young people to think critically, to understand the foundations of science, and to consciously navigate the impact of technologies on society, nature, and everyday life. We envision every child growing in an educational environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and discovery, fostering a balance between science and creativity, between the freedom to ask questions and the rigor of knowledge.

Mission

We bring the joy of learning through exploration, experimentation, and discovery.

The Garden of Science Association develops and implements educational projects that transform learning into a vivid, relevant, and accessible experience for children and communities. Through initiatives such as Truth Compass, Seeds of Good, STEAM Summer School, Researchers’ Night, and other community programs, we build educational experiences that stimulate curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and responsibility toward the world.

Our activities combine science, art, and nature in an interdisciplinary approach, based on experiential learning, collaboration, and reflection. We create contexts in which children learn by doing, asking questions, and discovering, in a safe, open, and inspiring environment.

In the long term, the Garden of Science aims to develop an alternative educational ecosystem, which will include the first private school in Arad with English as the language of instruction, based on an international curriculum, as a natural continuation of the projects and values cultivated through the association’s work.

Values

Values of the Garden of Science Association

Joy of learning
We bring the joy of learning through exploration, experimentation, and discovery, transforming education into a vivid, relevant, and memorable experience for children.

Experiential learning
We believe that authentic learning is built through doing, testing, and reflecting. Our projects are hands-on educational experiences connected to real life.

STEAM approach and creativity
We promote STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) as an integrated way of understanding the world, where logical thinking, creativity, art, and language complement one another.

Critical thinking and dialogue
We encourage questions, debates, and argumentation. We create contexts in which children learn to analyze information, express their ideas, and understand different perspectives.

Research-based education and social relevance
We develop educational projects grounded in research and best practices, aligned with the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s society and with the impact of science and technology on everyday life.

Respect, community, and responsibility
We encourage respect for differences and build educational communities in which children feel accepted and valued, while taking responsibility for people, the environment, and the world we live in.

Our story

It’s possible in rural communities, too...

Our association was born from a personal journey. After spending 13 years abroad, Mădălina returned home to find that children in the Arad area had limited access to modern, engaging educational courses and workshops. This realization inspired the creation of an educational space designed to bring meaningful, interactive learning opportunities closer to the local community.

This realization led to a bold idea: building an educational organization in a rural area, dedicated to creating learning spaces and educational programs of the highest quality, while ensuring easy access for all families in the community. This is how Garden of Science came to life.

Why education?

We live in a constantly evolving world, where technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation are reshaping the way we learn, work, and live.

In this context, education becomes more than the transmission of information; it becomes a process through which we shape flexible, curious individuals capable of adapting to change.

Therefore, it is essential to design modern, child-centered forms of learning that foster critical thinking, creativity, and a balanced relationship between science, technology, and humanity.

Quotes that capture the philosophy of our association:

“ Il lavoro dei bambini non produce un oggetto materiale, ma crea l’umanità stessa: non una razza, una casta, un gruppo sociale, ma l’intera umanità.

[The work of children does not produce a material object, but creates humanity itself—not a race, a caste, or a social group, but the whole of humanity.]

— Maria Montessori

“ An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.

— Benjamin Franklin

“ Ich habe keine besondere Begabung, sondern bin nur leidenschaftlich neugierig.

[I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.]

— Albert Einstein

Mădălina

President of the Garden of Science Association

My name is Mădălina (also known as Mădălina no. #1). I am the President of the association and the coordinator of most of our activities. I enjoy bringing new, bold projects to life, projects that have a real and meaningful impact on the communities they serve.

I have worked with children in Romania as an English and French teacher, as well as with students from several countries, including Romania, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. While research remains a strong passion of mine (I hold a PhD in the humanities, earned at a prestigious university in Germany, and have coordinated research projects in Switzerland and Romania), educational initiatives designed for children are what truly inspire me.

For me, Garden of Science is the place where education comes alive: a space of curiosity, discovery, and meaningful learning that offers children memorable experiences and valuable foundations for their future.

Mădălina

Founding member of the Garden of Science Association

My name is Mădălina (also known as Mădălina No. #2). I am a founding member of the association and represent the entrepreneurial spirit behind the concept. I have been running a company in Arad for many years and am familiar with both the risks involved and the principles of sustainable growth for new, collaborative initiatives.

I am inspired by the idea of contributing to the creation of an association that offers children, young people, and families in Livada and Arad meaningful and enriching ways to spend their time, through education, information, culture, and leisure activities.

Alina

Founding member of Garden of Science Association

My name is Alina. I am a founding member of the association and responsible for educational coordination and pedagogical expertise within our projects. With a strong background in education, including training at a Pedagogical High School and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Philology, and extensive experience working with children, I am deeply motivated to contribute to the development of modern educational models tailored to the current needs of learners.

At the Garden of Science Association, I focus on integrating and analyzing international educational methodologies, with a particular emphasis on comparative curricula. By identifying best practices from English-language education systems and aligning them with the Romanian curriculum, I help build an educational approach that is balanced, flexible, and relevant.
